Bloggy Giveaways Quarterly Carnival is Here!

Yep, you read it right. It's Bloggy Giveaways Quarterly Carnival time. It runs from July 28 to August 1. I'm probably more excited than you are because I missed the cut-off last year. Thanks to Jen (it's always good to drop by her place), I get to participate this year. AND, since I totally forgot to celebrate my 100th post, I figured this was a good way to celebrate and give something away.

So, what am I offering? I will make the winner of my giveaway a Handmade Market Tote using Favorite Things Eco Market Tote pattern, which looks like this (different fabric, of course):and a matching zippered coin purse. So what do you have to do to enter? Just leave me a comment telling me what your likes and dislikes are in fabric. I'll be sewing from my rather massive fabric stash, but I should be able to accommodate the winner. I also ask you to provide your blog address or e-mail address so I can contact you. I will leave this open until the morning of August 2. Then, at some point during the day, I will put all the comments in a hat, bowl, hat box, shoe box...well you get the idea, shake them all up, close my eyes, stick my hand in the box, bowl, hat box, shoe box and pick a winner! I can say that I have been carrying this bag for 2 weeks and I love it. Lots of room -- very sturdy.

If, like me, you can't get enough of the giveaway action, then click here and you're back to the main Bloggy Giveaway page where you can link through to the other posts. Happy Bloggy Carnival days and good luck!

I love sturdy fabrics. While soft dainty cotton is nice, if it can't hold up in the wash or day-to-day use, it's not worth it. I say this from experience making things with flimsy fabric :-)

Chantel said...

Oh dear. I'm hardly picky when it comes to fabric. For a bag I think I'd like something in blues and browns or spring colors. Just no school bus yellow or burnt orange, and I'm pretty pleased. :)

Ooooo fun! I really like neutral earthy tones in fabric. It is also important for fabric to be durable!

Thanks for having a giveaway! I like modern looking fabrics. I'm just getting back into sewing, and I don't always have the patience to work with lots of patterned fabrics. Although if I had a nicer cutting tool (I just use scissors), that would make life easier.

Katie said...

I love totes!!! Fabrics I like include bold patterns, just about anything retro, butterflies, pretty much anything except pastels! Thanks for the fun giveaway! :)

Carol said...

Fabric?
OOOOOOOOO, I love fabric. There isn't much I don't love, other than polyester. My favorite has to be floral pastels, ala Shabby Chic.

Samantha said...

Great giveaway! Thanks for hosting it! I love retro prints, toile, leopard, I am open to almost anything...
I am hosting a giveaway, too! I hope you will check it out.

Beth said...

Oh boy, what fabric DON'T I like? Well, my biggest faves are Jacobean or Paisley prints. But beyond that as long as the colors aren't too muddy, I'm good. Clear colors are great, and sturdy fabric is always appreciated for something like this.

Great giveaway idea, thanks for the chance to enter!

I love everything about it, lol. I love handmade totes! Thanks for the entry :)

My favorites are kind of like the Guatemalan fabrics, shades of fuschia, turquoise, aqua... I basically like anything Southwest or ethnic looking as well! But I would really be happy with anything!

I love silky fabric and satins. I can spend hours in the fabric store, the smell reminds me of my grandmother who used to make most of my clothes.

I love the asian print on the bag in the photo

My favorite fabric is something sturdy at least for a bag to put lots of girly stuff in! Something that won't wrinkle all up when washed! For colors, my kitchen is done in a southwest decor, so my favs are dusty blues, mauves etc. So nice of you to offer this!
Best of luck to you!

Oh, cute bag! I vote for the neutral/earthy colors - but with a bit of fun! Thanks!

Major bright flowers or dots or something way fun. (I'm an artist and work in an art gallery.) Oh, sturdy is also good. As a market bag, the thing hauls some weight.

Hooray!

Orange is my favorite color. Yup, beautiful orange. I currently use the walmart black shopping bags to reduce the enormous number of plastic bags that were taking over my utility room. A sturdy orange bag would quickly become my favorite, however if I were to win, I wouldn't be picky about the color, as long as the bag was sturdy and durable.

I like denim fabric a lot. Lots of other fabrics can easily go with it and it is sturdy. I like the patchwork look too, using many types of fabric patterns and weights.

I like to use drapery and upholstery fabric for different things because of the patterns and the durability. They also usually have scotch guard too.

I don't like fabrics that stretch too much, making it hard to sew or piece together. I don't like fabrics that are real thin either.

This is a neat idea for a bag you have. I like shopping totes. Thanks for this opportunity.

I'm not picky when it comes to my bags - I have a wide variety of them to match any mood and any outfit... my friends call me the bag lady, but you can never have too many bags, right?

Deb C. said...

Duh me. Until I read the others' comments, I thought you wanted to know what do I like/dislike about fabric in particular. So I will answer that also. I like fabrics that don't shrink up right before your eyes when sprayed with water or starch. I like fabrics that look good as a unit when you put them back together, after the tortous decision of which ones will go where in a quilt top. Now for my answer to the real question: for a bag, I like decorator weight, linen, or something sturdy in neutral (beige/gray) colors so I can wear it with anything. I'm not a 'change my purse to match my outfit' person. You're so great to do this. Thanks.

I'm just in love with fabrics! I've been sewing most of my life and was even an assistant manager of a Cloth World before it was bought out by JoAnn's. The only thing negative I can think of about fabric is if it isn't a good quality or it's too old and hasn't been taken care of.

I've subscribed to your feed so that I can keep up with your blog.
