Slow and Steady Wins the Race -- Another Skirt is Hemmed

I'm moving at a snail's pace, but I am starting to see the end of skirt-hemming-ville. Last night, I got the hem in another skirt (Butterick 4686 -- remember there are 7 of these skirts because it's a wardrobe basic). For some reason (okay, I was tired), I had a hard time hemming the skirt and lining last night, but I persevered and completed it.
It is interesting how each fabric behaves differently. This one is a little wonky. Even though I hemmed it like I always do (1/2" longer in the back), the skirt, after being on my body for a while, started to sag in the front so I had goofy hem. I thought it was because the waist was too big until, viola, I tried this experiment: I rolled the waistband in the front down by 1 inch. Problem solved. Then I remembered that I forgot to make a petite adjustment to the yoke. That explains why the pink skirt and the gray skirt started sagging. The brown linen, however, did not have that problem. Go figure. Now that I have my fix, I will be going back into this skirt and the two that still need hems and increase the seam joining the skirt and the yoke, in the front only, by one inch, tapering to nothing at the side seams. The hem is even in the picture because I have the waistband rolled down.

This skirt does not have a novelty lining. The was actually the first skirt I made and I guess I wasn't feeling adventurous. So, it's a plain, nubby silk lining with yellow bias tape. The bias tape is in the inside so it matches the outside:
which also has bias tape (a faux piping) between the skirt and the yoke. No one will ever see this because I wear my shirts on the outside, but I know and that's all that matters.
Well, I had better get at those other two skirts before I forget that I know how to fix them.

Happy sewing y'all

I love vivid colors and this combo is my kinda thing. Hems are usually a minor disaster for me after I get distracted. They can look pretty crazy.

Your skirt and t go beautifully together. Very pretty outfit. Enjoy wearing that, and the others that will follow.

I love your skirt and with that shirt it is perfect! The colors say "summer" The hem looks fine in the photo. I started on my closet a couple of days ago. I transferred my fall and winter stuff to another closet. I thought I had already done this, but boy did I miss a lot. Now, I have another closet that has mostly sizes that I don't wear today. I have to decide if i think I'll be able to wear them again and what to do with the ones I don't think I will. I put quite a few things in my refashioning pile. Only a few things in my give away pile, mostly shoes. I discovered things that I forgot about that I can wear now.

You are inspiring me to do the same. My fabric stash is massive and I really have to create a new basic wardrobe as well.

I think I will start with pants since I have the most problem with them. Thanks for the inspiration.
